The eighth edition of Lugano Bike Emotions concluded yesterday, Sunday, April 27th, transforming the city center into a lively and engaging stage for cycling and outdoor sports enthusiasts. Three intense days, full of excitement and participation, saw the presence of thousands of enthusiastic people, confirming the event as one of the most anticipated and appreciated in Ticino.

High-Level Competitions

The 2025 edition saw the introduction of two new competitions that were a great success:

  • Mountain Bike Rally Emotions: an exciting 60 km course with five special stages through the picturesque woods and mountain trails of the region, which saw the participation of 80 enthusiasts, including top athlete Filippo Colombo, a member of the SCOTT-SRAM MTB Racing Team. He won the race with a time of 0:54:41.

  • Monte Brè Time Trial: an uphill challenge of 9.54 km for road bikes, which involved a remarkable 150 registered participants. They tackled each curve with determination, earning the applause of the public along the route.

Special Activities and Unique Moments

Over the three days, Lugano Bike Emotions also offered a series of extraordinary experiences that attracted thousands of participants. These activities helped to make the event even more special, with something for everyone:

Pedala e assapora

One of the most popular moments was the food and wine tour "Pedala e Assapora" (Pedal and Savor), which saw an overwhelming participation of 90 people. The tour sold out days in advance, with participants enjoying local delicacies while riding along some of the most scenic trails in the area. It was a unique experience that combined the pleasure of good food with the beauty of the surrounding nature.

Waterbike

Another perennially popular experience was the Waterbike, which attracted around 1,000 people who had the opportunity to cycle on the waters of Lake Lugano. This combination of sport and nature provided unforgettable emotions, with participants exploring the lake in a completely new and adventurous way. On Saturday, the most daring competed in a race on water bikes thanks to the Lake Eliminator, which was won by the father-son duo Antonio and Luca Moya, regular participants in all editions.

Handbike Race

The Handbike race had an even more special significance thanks to the presence of Heinz Frei, a multi-titled handbike champion. His participation injected even more emotion into the competition, with participants tackling the course with courage and determination, under the admiring gaze of the public.

Yoga and Spinning

Another resounding success of the 2025 edition was the Yoga and Spinning program, which garnered incredible interest. The yoga sessions, designed for those wishing to combine relaxation and well-being, sold out days in advance, with participants appreciating the opportunity to practice in an exclusive location directly on the lake.

Similarly, the spinning classes, an excellent alternative for two-wheeled fitness enthusiasts, also saw high attendance and were completely sold out, providing energy and motivation to participants who pedaled together under the guidance of experienced instructors.

Activities for All Tastes

The beating heart of the event was the Expo Village, set up between Piazza Manzoni, Piazza Riforma, and Piazza Rezzonico, which welcomed numerous exhibitors and offered a wide range of activities for all tastes:

  • Acrobatic shows, a children's village, music, dance, a vintage museum, the "Graziellando" parade, and much more enriched the program, offering moments of fun and entertainment for all those present.

  • Another highly significant solidarity event was the charity auction of bicycles and scooters organized by the Lugano City Police, the proceeds of which were donated to support various local associations, once again demonstrating the strong bond between the event and the community.

Not in the center of Lugano but in Tesserete, the Kids Tour MTB, organized by Veloclub Capriasca, was also a great success. On Sunday morning, it involved around 70 boys and girls aged between 6 and 14 with Swiss Cycling licenses in a 1.9 km race with a 44-meter elevation gain. Also in Tesserete, the village organized by WeRide Academy was a great success, animating Tesserete with music, shows related to the world of two wheels, and entertainment for the whole family.
