Great success for LBE

Having closed the seventh edition of Lugano Bike Emotions with an extraordinary success, people are already thinking about the next edition.

The crowd of fans, competing athletes and onlookers who animated the centre of Lugano and the Trevano meadow last weekend confirmed the interest in the world of cycling.

A great many people crowded the village in the city centre and the Trevano race ground. A further accomplice was a perfect climate that accompanied the participants throughout the entire weekend, while visitors were able to enjoy the various activities on offer and watch exciting shows and competitions.

The numbers of this Lugano Bike Emotions 2024: 500 athletes took part in the CIC Swiss Bike Cup in the Trevano woods from the U9 to the Élite; about a hundred registered participants raced on the streets of the centre in the youth categories and in the FUN race. Thirty velomobiles and 40 participants with vintage bicycles also competed on the same route. A dozen stands enlivened Piazza Manzoni, Piazza Riforma and Piazza Rezzonico, providing a backdrop to the activities on offer during the weekend. The "Pedala e Assapora" goliardic outing this year saw 50 participants enjoying a tour of the region's grottos and woods; around 60 people also took part in several heats over a 1000m waterbike course, pedalling directly on the waters of Lake Lugano.

The yoga, eldoa and spinning courses always attracted a good number of participants, enabling the organisers to draw up waiting lists.

Fun but also competition in Trevano, where 33-year-old Paula Gorycka from Poland (now leading the general classification) and 29-year-old Thomas Griot from France took the day's victories at the CIC Swiss Bike Cup.
